Services and obituary information for:

Marilyn Polite

Marilyn Anne (Polite) Biery, 74, left us peacefully Sunday morning, July 31, 2011. She was surrounded by loving, caring family until the very end.

Marilyn was born in Tulsa, OK, on the first day of summer, June 21, 1937. She was the second child of five children. Her parents were Richard “Dick” Polite and Lois A. Hill Polite. She was always referred to as “a real beauty” by the family and her nickname of “Jelly” referred to her cheerfulness as a child on through her adulthood. She attended Tulsa Public Schools where she met 2 lasting friends, Angela and Margaret. She graduated from Will Rogers High School, Class of 1956, where she was a Round-Up Model and Sophomore Queen Attendant. She attended Oklahoma University and then married the love of her life, Ray F. Biery. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary July 26, 2011. During her early adult years in Tulsa, Marilyn was a volunteer for The United Way and American Red Cross. She was a member of the Tulsa Opera Guild and enjoyed modeling clothes for various fashion shows throughout the community. Later, she became a member of The National Society of The Daughters of The American Revolution which proved her lineage to a soldier who fought for our Country. She loved being a member of the Church of Christ, The church of her youth and she was a constant “private student” of the BIBLE. To sum up Marilyn and what meant the most to her during her lifetime…one would have to say she loved her FAMILY! Her devotion to her parents, husband, children, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews and grandchildren never ceased to exist. She was proud of each one and prayed for all daily. She along with her husband, opened up their home to celebrate big family holidays which they did with great joy and ease. Their door was always open to each member of the family whatever their needs were. Love, kindness, a place to “light” for a while or just a cup of coffee. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Phyllis Gay Polite Cadion, and her special niece, Kimberly Kay Cadion. She is survived by her husband, daughter, Brenda Anne Biery Harwood, her husband, Brad; son Brett Allen Biery, his wife, Misty Hardgrave Biery and two grandchildren: Lindi Ann and Barret Biery, all of Tulsa. Marilyn also leaves two sisters and a brother: Loretta June Polite Bourland her husband, Joe, of Boulder, CO; Donna Lois Polite Gantt, her husband, Dion, Tulsa and Richard H. Polite, Jr. of Muskogee. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and two very special friends and confidantes: Teresa Banks and Becky Casillas who cared for her for several years.

A private family service will be held Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 51st Street and Memorial, Saturday, August 6, 2011. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Park Plaza Church of Christ, 4930 South Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74135, in Marilyn’s memory. Moore’s Southlawn 918-663- 2233.
