The induction of the Hall of Fame class for 2018 is April 6, 2018. Details for the event will be provided at a later date.

Mr. Donald R. Mellott, Class of 1962 Distinguished Hall of Fame Inductee, has CHALLENGED all Will Rogers alumni to match his grant of $25,000.

This gift will fund ACADEMICS - which includes STEM programming, supplies and equipment requested and carefully vetted by the administration of the high school.

Mr. Mellott has been exceptionally generous having previously provided a successful challenge grant for athletics in the same amount.

WRHS Hall of Fame - 2017
Rodger Randle (’62), Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee for the Will Rogers High School Community Foundation, announces the class of 2017 inductees to be honored in the Will Rogers High School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies on Friday, March 24, 2017 as follows:

Mike Donahue, Class of ’74, western artist, was invited by the Oklahoma Art Council to show a retrospective of his work in the Governor’s Gallery and was the 2011 recipient of the Academy of Western Artist’s Will Rogers Award for Artist of the Year. He has received numerous awards in the western and horseman art genre and has been featured on numerous magazine covers.

Tommy Evans, Class of ’49, deceased, was a wrestling silver medalist in the 1951 Helsinki Olympic Games, Pan American Games gold medalist, University of Oklahoma wrestling coach leading a team to the national title in his first season, head coach for the 1968 U.S. Olympic freestyle team, and an Air Force and Army pilot.

Joe Johnston, Class of ’66, is an award winning author, graphic designer and songwriter. He is a filmmaker, music producer, publisher, accomplished artist, photographer, and journalist. He has written, directed, and supervised music for various film and TV programs. He is also the creator of the McDonald’s Happy Meal.

Jo Anne Meade Lewis, Class of ’55, is a children’s advocate, community activist, interior designer, and artist. Jo Anne has been an enthusiastic supporter and fundraiser for various education, art and community entities. She is a valiant supporter of Will Rogers High School, the students and the faculty.

Paula LeFan Stover, Class of ’59, has enjoyed a career in performing arts management, with 26 years as director of Oklahoma City’s Lyric Theater. She has been instrumental in the urban development and preservation of an urban area in Oklahoma City, and was a recipient of the Governor’s Art Award. She is a volunteer in her community, church and the arts.

The Hall of Fame events will begin at 9:00 am in the Will Rogers College High School Auditorium with an Induction Assembly for the student body, faculty, family and friends.

The inductees will be honored at the 2017 Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Silent Auction, Friday evening, March 24, beginning at 6 pm, in the Sky Room at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, 777 W. Cherokee Street, Catoosa. Complimentary valet parking will be available. Individual tickets are $75.00 and tables of 10 are $750.00. The Will Rogers Community Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization.

Kingston Trio at WRHS
The Kingston Trio, the American folk and pop music group that launched the folk revival of the late 1950s to the early 1960s, will present “Holiday Cheers” at the auditorium on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 2:00pm, sponsored by the Will Rogers High School Community Foundation.

Found Ring
A woman's size '56 class ring has been found in a deceased woman's jewlery box with the inscribed initials "JKB". Strangely, the woman was 9 years old in 1956!
* Jean Benson has confirmed it is not her ring.
* Janelle Burkitt is deceased. I am trying to determine her middle initial and/or contact current family members.
* Judith Blakely's contact information is unknown. I am trying to find her contact information.
* June Blossman's initials are "JKB" but it is not her ring - she did not receive a class ring!

The Foundation would like to honor school faculty and staff, during these reduced funding times, by providing a lovely lunch for them once per month, to make sure they know we appreciate them.

FOUNDATION FRIDAY FACULTY FEASTS will begin on Sept. 16, 2016. The '64 class volunteered to provide the October lunch.

Now is the time to nominate your esteemed classmates for the Hall of Fame Class of 2017. The next Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017. The schedule of events will be confirmed later.

Visit the online Nomination Process for information and a form to complete and submit with attachments of your choice. Nominations must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 to be included in the selection process for the class of 2017. There is no need to re-submit previously nominated individuals as they will also be considered for the upcoming class.
